Visitors of All Ages are Invited to Get Involved

To commemorate the centenary of Great Britain’s entry into World War One, Idlewells Shopping Centre is holding 2 workshops for visitors of all ages to join in, REMEMBER the fallen and REFLECT on the sacrifices made by so many from 1914 to the present day.

4th August: 11am – 3pm
Time Capsule FREE Workshop
Create a written or visual war keepsake to be included within our special Time Capsule that will be buried somewhere in the centre for 4 years! Our Time Team will help visitors of all ages to get involved!

4th – 9th August: 11am – 3pm
Paint a Poppy FREE Workshop
Two giant canvases will be set up all week for Idlewells visitors to paint their own little masterpiece or write a message onto.

Our resident artist, Bob Lee, will be on hand to show you how to paint your poppy – and you can take away a small canvas with you too! On the 9th August this workshop will form part of our Six Week Summer Saturday Promotion – for more information click here.

Come along, join in, meet members of the Royal British Legion or just reflect over a coffee to the soundtrack of wartime music playing near the Masarella’s Café.

Donations Invited
Poppies, wreaths, crosses and brooches will be available, as well as a limited number of poppy cup cakes, for a donation to the Royal British Legion.
The cupcakes will be donated by Gilly Swift owner of specialist cake maker in the Idlewells, Cake Fusion.
