Idlewells Shopping Centre

A little Summer Summary 2017

As summer 2017 draws to a close, the Idlewells Shopping Centre team reflects on a season of 'Seaside Saturdays' activities that have been a big hit with shoppers...

Starting with a traditional roll-a-ball donkey derby game, free popcorn and candyfloss way back on July 29th, the six 'Seaside Saturdays' attracted great attendance, with a particular spike for an exceptional caricature artist and games on the 5th August, an incredible sand sculptor on 19th August and the free professionally taken photo-momento on 2nd September.  In between these, hundreds of children enjoyed making sand art, keepsakes and bracelets, as well as having glitter tattoos and hair braids, to get them in the seaside spirit!

The wonderful sandpit (kindly built and donated by The Garden Barber in 2015) has once again proved extremely popular with parents and children alike, with several parents asking Centre Manager, Chloe O'Donnell to keep it going.

"I've had quite a few mums and grandma's, in particular, asking if we can keep the sandpit open," said Chloe. "Apparently children are eager to come shopping when they know they get a little sand-playtime! So we've decided that we will keep it open indefinitely - especially as some of our older customers seem to enjoy sitting and watching the youngsters at play too!"

The Centre's giant deckchair was popular throughout the summer too, with around one hundred shoppers sending in their pictures to the Idlewells' Facebook page for fun and likes. The photograph with the most 'thumbs ups' was sent in by Stacey Pepperday and received an amazing 336 likes! Stacey wins £100 for her (or rather, her four children!) to spend in Idlewells.

Looking forward, the Idlewells team turns its attention to Halloween. Any customers with ideas of an activity they would like to see for Halloween, is invited to do so, by messaging Idlewells on its Facebook homepage.

Christmas 2017 is the next big season of fun - with a 5 week programme on the cards - and a special announcement to be revealed in November.
