Idlewells Shopping Centre

Take the Idlewells Mannequin Challenge

WEB News lgeOGD2018

As part of the nationwide shopping centres' fundraising day for children's charities - Idlewells is throwing down the gauntlet for their retailers AND customers to stand completely still for one hour on a podium - in living statue style!

Participants, including the Centre Manager Chloe O'Donnell, will select an hour slot on the day to assume their pose - with a view to holding it for a full sixty minutes!

A professional living statue will be standing alongside the fundraisers for much of the 4 hour period - to amaze and (hopefully) pass on some tips to participants. There will be five additional podiums available over the 4 hours providing the opportunity for a minimum of 20 people to take up the challenge and give it a go for themselves!

The 'mannequins' will be standing in the mall - or, subject to availability in a shop window - between 11am - 3pm for hourly slots, with one podium kept open for as many visitors as possible to give it a go, for a small donation, on the day.

Retailers will be invited to take part via the Centre Management Team, but members of the public wishing to book a full hour slot (or longer) are invited to contact Chloe on; 01623 443368. There is a page set up for all those taking part to use in fundraising, and for supporters to share - or old school sponsor forms will be given out to all participants too.

In addition to the Mannequin Challenge, Idlewells, supported by Tracy and the team from popular store Material Girl Fabrics, will be holding a free workshop for customers of all ages to make a total of 500 felt poppies required to decorate an exciting new semi-permanent memorial, with a difference, inside Idlewells.

The memorial will be a fun dual purpose structure, that the Idlewells team hope will be a benefit to visitors all year-round, whilst still reflecting the strong sense of pride the people of Sutton have in their fallen heroes past, present and future.
