Shopping Centre's Green Glory

Idlewells Shopping Centre has won the Gold Environment Award in the national campaign to find the greenest individuals, companies, councils and communities.

Sutton’s busy shopping centre competed against more than 800 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice with the project ‘Recycling in Retail’.

Operations Manager, Ian Pratt and Housekeeping Supervisor, Carl Milner travelled to the Houses of Parliament to collect their prestigious award in November (2018).

As a result of this award success the Idlewells team have been invited to have their winning paper published in The Green Book - the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow their example and learn from their achievement.

“I’m pleased to see my team recognised for their hard work in establishing new practices for the environment, and sticking to them so vigilantly.” Said Chloe O’Donnell, Idlewells’ Centre Manager.  "It’s taken a big adjustment to working ways for all of the ‘behind the scenes’ staff at Idlewells, and it’s great to see it pay off in more ways than one!” She concluded.
